Since Hannah Moved Away

The grass looks old and lumpy,
The sky seems black and grey,
My friends feel very grumpy,
Since Hannah moved away.
My dog’s fur feels all rusty,
My cats, they feel like hay,
The road it seems all dusty,
Since Hannah moved away.
The sun feels like it doesn’t rise,
The clouds won’t go away,
Everyone is in disguise,
Since Hannah moved away.
I thought “I’ll make new friends,
But they will never stay,
My life now twists and turns and bends,
Since Hannah moved away.”

I wrote this when I was about 12 and I got the idea from a sort of poem like this in a 'How to Write Poetry' book. I thought it was good considering I was 12.
I think my teacher almost cried (in Grade 8 - a year after I had written it) when she read it!
I added it in my English assignment (at a different school
), the very first one in the 'book.'
